21 is the second album by English singer-songwriter Adele. It was released on 19 January 2011 in Japan, and 24 January in the UK. The first single released from the album "Rolling in the Deep", described by Adele as a "dark bluesy gospel disco tune" and co-written by the singer with Paul Epworth, was released on 14 January 2011. The single was released in late 2010 to a great reception from critics and it peaked at number 2 in the UK, the track also charted in the United States at number 41. The album was then released on January 19th in the Japan and on January 21st worldwide.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, (born 5 May 1988), is a Grammy Award-Winning English singer-songwriter from Enfield, North London. Her debut album, 19, was released in January 2008 and entered the UK album chart at #1. The album has since received four-times Platinum certification for domestic sales exceeding 1,200,000 units. The album included the hugely popular song, Chasing Pavements. 19 earned Adele two Grammy Awards in February 2009 for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
